I have a 05 Explorer with the oem, not the dealer add on, key pad keyless entry. I think I have a bad connection or something. I want to remove it to see whats up. Maybe someone knows about the problem I'm having. It started with 3 out of the 5 buttons not lighting up but still working. Later it progressed to not working at all. Then it started working on and off. Now I have to beat it and press really hard to get it to respond. When I do get it to respond, it will work but the 2 working lights are dim and I have to press really hard on the keys to make sure to get the full code in. If I do learn how to remove it then what? I have searched the web and this site with no luck. I feel like I'm in a bad BING commercial.... key pad, key pad code, key fob, key lime pie... !!! Get the idea? Thanks in advance.

Boy, I'm not positive, but I remember reading somewhere that it's sandwiched between the black trim on the door and the door itself. I think you have to pull the black trim off to get to it... (Assuming it's on the upright of the door b-pillar)

thanks

Thanks, I'll look at that. I tried to pop it out(keypad) but backed off when it didn't feel right. I didn't want to break anything. And yes it is mounted in the black trim on the door pillar. Anybody else have an opinion?
