Im in a mess...
I wanted and was going to buy a 93 limited and park the 2000 for a while, but that fell through when my health took another dump. Which really sucks..
My 2000 XLT 4.0 SOCH has the timing chain rattle and a rear end roar (which is easy to fix if it needs a rear end) and I am in a position I cant afford to take it to a mechanic to fix it (I have a myriad of health issues, including injection and infusion therapy for autoimmune issues and other crap and they cost $4,000 a pop... YEAH!)
How hard is it to do this on your own as a novice mechanic? I have help, he will be doing alot of it,he's meticulous and careful, but not gets a tad impatient...
I've read and reread and reread all the stickies... And blogs... It doesn't look awful, just time consuming and tedious
I have hunted and hunted for a V8 with similar mileage under 4K and they dont seem to exsist much. I found a 4runner but mehhh..
I need this thing FIXED, its gotten worse, my stopgap mesures didn't work and I am dependant on it to get me to Physical Therapy, Infusion and so forth IN SEATTLE OR SALEM... Im driving roughly 800 miles a week on my other car and its taking its toll on us both...
So tell me, am I stupid to do this or what?? Does any one know any GOOD, CHEAP mechanics in the Portland/Seattle area who might help some one out??
God bless and thanks for letting me vent.. Im in tears over this whole thing.. Its such a solid Xploder otherwise
