2000 Mountaineer
Exactly as the title states. I love the effectiveness of an SUV with my 2000 Mountaineer without the hassle of driving a huge tank (Read: pretty much any truck nowadays) I have no plans other than to fix up my current truck but i am curious as to how much bigger the later gen models are than the 1995-2001 trucks. (never really was a fan of anything after the 2001 explorer anyways, no offense to the rest of you!! just my personal taste)

Ive had my share of driving big vehicles including two big ass pickups and I'm sick of them, i love my Mountaineer, its literally the smallest thing I've owned. I've always liked chevy tahoes but even those look just too big.

Ive never been able to see a side by side comparison of the 1995-2001 next to a 2002-2005 and am just curious as to if the later gen dwarfs the older!

My 04 and 05 are over 900lbs heavier than my 94. The 02-05's definitely feel like tanks compared to the 94, not just weight, but how it feels sitting in them. The 94 is on the Ranger chassis, not sure about the 2nd gen. My 94 is a lot stiffer than my 04-05.

It's rather roomy and the perfect size if you ask me. Plenty of room for the driver, rear passengers and even the 3rd row isn't that bad for a long trip. Turning radius is phenomenal IMO and the ride is far above a 2nd gen.

I doubt the ranger chassis is stiffer. I've had my 90 ranger and my 04 mountaineer on a lift, there's no comparison. 04 has fully boxed frame.

You're probably feeling the difference between the ranger's twin i-beam and solid axle vs upper and lower a-arm front /w coilovers and irs. Like comparing a golf cart to a sports car.

Yep. It's perfect. Comfortably seats 7, hauls tons of cargo if you put all the seats flat + trailer. AND I can still make tight u-turns. All the benefit of something suburban sized without the hassle.
