Its in the 4500 to 7000 lb range. Your truck is perfectly legal and should be after you do a TT/Shackle lift or even a body lift. They measure from the ground to the bottom of the bumper in VA from what I remember.

Depends on if you're talking about curb weight or Gross Vehicle Weight. Curb weight, I believe your sport should be around 4200. Gross weight, its over 4500.

Thanx guys for the help i new this site was handy lot of great help

According to my local truck stop, my 98 Sport with 1/2 tank of gas and me in it tipped the scales at 4300 lbs on the nose.

I velieve that most states go by the GVWR on the door sticker, not the actual gross vehicle weight. IIRC, the GVWR for the 98 Sport is somewhere around 5000 lbs.

my '96 sport 4X2 weighed in at about 1,860 KG which is only about 4,000. this scale is pretty accurate since we use it to weight vehicles getting loaded on to airplanes, so it has to be!

Oh, yeah.... forgot to mention that mine was a 4x4. That explains the extra 300 lbs....

If you are worried about the 28 inches put a piece of the bumper at or slightly bellow the front bumper for the street so it is legal since they mesure from the bottom of the bumper.
