I'm thinking about buying a 95 or newer Explorer and I'm wondering how much a pretty descent set of 20s with tires would cost me. Also, how much on average is it to get and X bagged?

Wait...........you gotta post some pics of the Knight Rider Lights! Please!

Robb

You could drop 2K in wheels and tires easy. Not sure about bags but probably at least a grand.

Lots of money!

Robb, here's an old pic but you get the idea:

depending on the 20s u get u are lookin at around $2k-$3k, then bags are prolly gonna be near $1500 or so also. Let me know if u find out for sure tho!

You guys are low-balling the bags. With all the fabrication needed to install bags on an Explorer, it would be upwards of $2500-3000. 20's with tires would be about another 3k for a good set.

i dont have any pics. i sold my x like a long time ago. so tell me about these bags. has anyone done this yet?

Bags of what? :p

airbags.....who all has done it and what is up with all of the fabrication, what has to be done to it?

I don't think anybody on this board is bagged. It takes custom fabrication to make the bag mounts, etc. The rear would be easier than the front. Basically, I think you would need custom lower a arms to accept the bags and run a shock at the same time. Here's just a list of things that you would need that I can think of:

4 bags
Bag mounts (mostly have to be custom made)
Compressor(s)
Tank(s)
Air lines and fittings of all sorts
Custom notching of the rear frame and floor if you want to get down on the pavement
Switches
Gauges
And $$$$

I met a guy at a show with a 98 AWD and he spent $8000 to bag it because they had to custom fab a 4 link for him.

bump that! i thought it would be pretty cool but maybe not for that much money. how much to just lower the crap out of one then?

Try looking in the sport suspension forum for ideas and options.

a desient bag kit is kinda cheap like under a grand. Here is one.

or you could piece one together elcewhere with better parts. but with either choice the instalation will have alot of custom faberication and if you cant install it your self will cost alot. even more to make it lay frame because you would hace to cut up the interior in the back for the axle to fit.

bagged, this guy is from around my area

speaking of street explorer, and bags and stuff, what happened to www.explorerunderground.com? i trid going there one day, and it said the domain was for sale? does anyone know why?

I duno about explorerunderground.com either. No word if anything is supposed to happen with it either, I know they were supposed to open up a new site in 2003 but who knows.

did you say the explorer was a 95? Is it 2wd? Cause in 95 it should be the I-beams arnt they? Cause you should be able to buy premade bag mounts for the beams, cause I did own a 96 ranger with the beams in the front, and I sold it, and helped the guy that I sold it to bag it, and it wasnt that much money, cause he bought all the premade bags and tanks and lines and stuff..and you can get a set of 20 with tires for a cheap as 1200 now days cause they got 26 inch rims out now, so 20s are almost small..
