So my Explorer has been making a nice roaring noise in the back, but not like the wheel bearing noise we are usually accustomed to with these trucks. I jacked it up and started poking around. I found some fluid leaking out of the differential from the right side. I know nothing about differentials other than they need specialized care when something is wrong. So I went to the repair shop...
They said my right carrier bearing is shot and causing the leak. They don't do those repairs and gave me several local shops they recommend to call for estimates on Monday.
What can/should I expect to pay for this repair? Is there anything else I should have them do at the same time back there?
Almost forgot... There are only 48K miles on this vehicle, so this pretty seriously irritates me.
