I have only changed pads on drum brakes before and I'm not sure how on disc brakes, does anyone have pictures or really good instructions I can use? Also wondering about how much it might cost to replace them?

You can get a set of pads at any auto store for about $40. Changing them is simple. Remove the tire, remove the two caliper bolts. Lift up the caliper piston and ty it up out of the way. Take old pads out, grease new pads at the slide rails, put the new pads in. Use a c-clamp to compress the pistons, replace caliper and caliper bolts.

Obviously this was a quick run through, the haynes manual goes into more detail.

60-70% easier than drums. If you can do drums, disks will be a walk in the park. You could probably figure it out just by looking at them. Just don't take your brake lines off.

I agree, if you can do drums you will breeze through discs.

Knowing how bad the jacking points on X's suck it will probably take longer to get the thing on jackstands than it will to change the pads. LOL!

I know a reminder isn't necessary, but here it is anyway. SAFETY FIRST - Use jackstands or blocks under the front so it can't fall on you. I also have found metal coathangers good for holding up the caliper. Just wrap the end around the spring or anything that's handy.

I have some instructions at home that I wrote up, but they aren't on the net. They are for an F-150, but they are pretty much the same thing. I think the document is about 10 megs though (it includes pictures and everything), I'll try and get it in a web-viewable format and go from there :).
