I have an Explorer XLS V6 SOHC, 2000... I just had installed an external alarm (clifford) with the option to manage the "Post Parking Lights" for a while (around 30 seconds), the issue is that when I open the door and lights still on, it start "ringing" the vehicule "bell" indicator about the lights, so... I am geeting mad.

Does anybody knows how to eliminate that "bell" signal without opening the computer (I followed the sound and I discovered that is inside of it)?

Any cable or fuse?

There is a fuse I believe for that..i would ask a Ford tech guy where it is located so you can pull it. Or buy a Chilton's and look for the electric schematic.

Hey there, my brother in-law had an older ranger (89 I think) and he knew a lot about everything in them and one day he told me he knew how to take off the ringing, and there is a plug, kinda like the ones that hook into the back of stock stereos. It is right under the dash kinda directly in the middle of the dash, and he just pulled it out and now when the lights are on and the doors are open there is no ringing, although you might leave your lights on because of the loss of the ring. Now mine is a 91 so it might be different but I figured it may be the same, so you might try looking for that plug. Hope that helped.

Good solution rock883, but in this models the "ring-bell" is inside the computer, therefore the unique plug is the one of the computer (I guess)...

Did you eliminate that "bell" signal ?

well, if you can figure out where the sound is coming from, i would think you could just pull the plug out of the speaker. Thatd be the easiest way assuming you can get to it easily.

i know i know

hey i turned mine off, if you look under the dash inbetween the steering wheel and where the radio is there is a plug that is connected together, very easy to locate, just leave the lights on and open the door, and look under your dash and locate where the bell is coming from and you will find it, very obvious once found. have any questions just ask

Hey Adam... you don't happen to own some hockey sticks, do you? :-)

i wish

i only wish i were number 52 from the avalanche! but im not

The headlight reminder works off the open door sensor. Loop that and you should not hear any more chimes.
