Hi, um I made a mistake in title so please ignore title. Anyway just to warn others if you ever hear a grinding/rattling sound coming from your explorer it could be a wheel bearing failure.
My truck started to wiggle one day after making a turn on my final leg back home from work. I had it towed to Ford(My mechanic couldn't look at it because he was busy as usual). Then I got a very expensive shock and paid the diag. fee and got CAA to tow back home until my mechanic is available.
The bill----$1722.51(@ Ford)
Parts needed replacement
-Knuckle
-Hub
-Wheel Bearing
-Left Park Cable
-Right Park Cable.
What happen was I lent my vehicle mom last fall and she had drove 60km with the P brake engaged. Well that one incident caused the brake to seize. Since then I've been driving alot of highway and high speed routes which with a seized brake overheated the wheel bearing which in turn failed. Grinding noise and rattling appeared which then a week later resulted and a rear end wiggle. Find out driving while it was grinding and rattling at highway speeds damaged the hub and knuckle.
Getting it repaired by mechanic on Wednesday since I just got a call from him. $1200 if I pay in cash.
So let this be a warning to everyone before you wait and have an $300 bill jump to $1200-1700.00 bill.
