My girlfriends 02 sport tracs ac clutch engages once in a while after cycling off for the first time. I've read its the air gap being to wide that it won't have enough pull to engage the clutch. I found a video that shows removing shims behind the ac clutch to decrease the gap but i can't get it to lock to remove the bolt.

I've watched this video many times and tried what he said in turning on the ac with the keys in accessory mode and it should lock but it won't do it. I've tried turning the truck off with ac full blast and it just disengages as soon as the engine stops. I've even pulled the fuel pump fuse with ac full blast letting the engine die but the ac clutch just disengages every time. Please help!

Mine looks exactly the same ac clutch in the video so nothing to wedge a screwdriver on to lock it....

At 2:36 (where my fast forward stopped) in the pic below, you'll see three round nubs. On is above his hand at 1 o'clock, the other is to the left of center at 9 o'clock.

You need to get an object that is square (1/4" in diameter is all that's needed) and preferably 18" or so. I have an old cheap screw driver.

Wedge it between one of those nubs and the round portion of the clutch just between it and center. It doesn't take mutch to break it loose.

Edit: did you check your air gap yet? What was it? I'd be willing to bet that you don't have more than one, or, the correct size shims behind the clutch. So you won't be able to remove one and have the correct gap. I had to order some from 4seasons to do mine.
Have you checked the low and high pressures yet?

I think it was almost .05 and i think specs are .02-0.3 when it cycles off sometimes it stays off and i can tap it with a screwdriver or wrench and it will engage like normal. I just hope there are shims to remove lol. It blows ice cold when engaged btw.
