Youre in Luck

Luckily I just did this last week on my 93 X to add some switches.

First you remove the 4 screws from the cup holder assembly, and remove it.

Under that there is a raised panel with two screws in it, (roughly 2-3 inches apart) there is an empty hole between them. Remove the 2 screws.

Next remove the two bolt covers that are on both sides of the console, usually right beside the rear half of the seat. The bolts under these covers hold the armrest on. Youll have to move your seats all the way foward, then flip the release handles and let the seat back fold foward.

Working in the back seat (obviously) Remove the bolt covers (looks like an long plastic oval about 1 inch tall and three inches long). Take out the four bolts (two on each side), and remove the armrest assemby. Directly under the armrest there should be a single screw that attaches the console to the armrest support that attaches to the floor board. Remove it.

After that the console should just pull out.

By the way, if youre planning on switches in the console, or need to run electricty to it, the armrest's support that bolts to the floor board is grounded so I just drilled a 1/4" hole near the bottom/middle (the support is an I-beam design so bottom/slightly to the right/left of center is the strongest location to drill a hole without compromising integrity, while I doubt a 1/4" hole would reduce the structure strength, its better safe than sorry.)

Good Luck with your project.
