Recently Ive done alot of research into these chips. I believe that the only thing that you will benefit from is the timing advance. That is why you need high octane. Obviously you will not benefit from the shift points on the automatic transmission. That is all the chip does for you.
So to answer your question. No I dont think there is a difference between an automatic chip vs a non-automatic.
