So I got her hot attempting to get up the muddy hill and out of the creek bottom. Not real hot but hot enough. Shut her down and let the fan run to cool down. Then I made another attempt at the hill and was gaining ground. She started getting hot again but i was still making progress. This time she got real hot. I was almost out but had to stop. I idled for a minute but the temp wouldn't come down so I cut the ignition. About 3 seconds later...POW! The side tank on the radiator split nearly the entire length of the core and also branched out around the inlet.
I'm retarded and only had one of my fans wired up. It had worked fine before but apparently I pushed too hard this time. I've since aquired a second relay and fan #2 is operational. I think I should be good to go.
I've already replaced the radiator with a stock style replacement but does anyone have a line on a quality, all aluminum radiator for the v8? I don't like those plastic tanks. I'm also thinking about fabricating my own using the core from my old radiator if nobody makes one. The core has no deposits whatsoever and looks brand new, just the tank cracked. Any thoughts, tips or ideas?
