Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the blinker from turning off when I move the steering wheel a little. I swear, if I move the wheel an inch it goes off. Then I have to fight it to keep it on if the wheel is at a certain spot. It gets annoying. Anyone know a way to keep it from turning off automatically the first catch or whatever it is? It's hard to explain, but I'm sure you all have experienced this. Why would Ford make it turn off that quick?

Mine does the exact same thing but only turning left. The guys at ford told me I would have to get a new one to fix the problem. I forgot how much they wanted for it but it was way to much. My brothers 94 doesn't do it. I think I just might switch mine with his next month when he leaves his truck here to go Cali.

my 94 X doesnt do it but moms 96 X and dads 98 ranger do..and so does our patrol truck 99 ranger....

DAM

Mine too , but like Joes only to the left ? :bounce:

I don't think blinker technology has changed much in the past 30 years, so if its like my car theres this POS cam in the steering column that kicks the blinker off when the wheel is turned so many degrees... Honestly, I don't think there is any way to fix it short of ripping apart the steering wheel and grinding some of the lobes off the cam, but a worn out cam ain't fun, my car's was junk when I got it and you'd be surprised how easy it is to forget to turn your blinker off, looking like a dumbass the rest of the day.

Eh, mine does it too. I've noticed that it is easier to cancel the blinker in the Explorer than in any other car I have driven. Cheap answer (the kind I like best), hold onto the stalk when you want the signal to remain on.

peace

Mike

Heh...that's Ford for ya! Mine does it. Not only that, my dad's friend's 2000 Mustang does it too because they use basically the same turn signal stalk the Explorers do.

Mine does this too but is far worse because it makes a horrible buzzing sound sometimes.

If it's buzzing, you better get that checked out immediately. I've heard horrible stories about that. One of the people said that buzzing sounds eventually escalades to fire in the cabin.

Oh my, maybe I could make Ford fix it for free then?

Because if they won't do it for free......i'll just have to have a marshmellow roast in my steering column.....

What I do when it doesn't stick is that say i'm turning left and I push the stalk down, it comes back up, so I hold it down and turn the wheel to the right and I hear a click noise and let the wheel return, now it stays there. Opposite directions if turning right.

well mine is brand new because my mom saw it smoking one day while it was on!

Thats nice to know. Not only does my blinker piss me off, but it could also catch on fire.
