My check engine light is back on after changing this part out

Could this be because I never cleared the code after the install? What is the next best step for me to take on clearing this check engine light, EGR Flow Insufficiant code?

Sorry to beat this topic to death but after last night I'm about to take a hammer to the car. Why in the hell did they make the 5.0's so cramped to work on? I actually made my own tool last night to get one of the bolts off the DPFE Sensor so I wouldn't have to remove the intake.

as always please help this noob.

Did you pull the codes? Go borrow ODII tester from an auto parts store. You should have reset the light, but sounds like you did for it to go away.
Might be the MAF needs cleaning.

I think the computer just needed to reset itself because last night the light went out on its own. :D

Your best bet would be to reset the computer anyway...because when the CEL comes back in another 30 miles or so (it likely will), you wonder if it was b/c u didnt reset.

Pull the batt. cable for 15-20 min and then drive for a while.

If the light comes back anyway (with the same code) take the sensor off, clean it up, and return it saying that your mechanic said it wasn't the problem and didn't use it. Most part stores wouldn't know the difference...

I've got a code 402 (urs is 401?) that wouldn't go away even after replacing the dpfe & hoses, egr valve & evr - still there!

I took the battery neg battery cable off for 20 min. then drove it around for 45 miles...light has yet to come back on. Yes I was getting the 401 code. If the light does come back on and I find that the DPFE sensor is not the problem I think I'll just keep in anyway. One less thing to worry about down the road. Besides the ford dealership I got it at wont take anything back if it been past 5 days.

How did you replace the egr sensor? In my 5.0 there literaly NO room to work in there.

I've got the v6, so it's much easier than your 8. Aside from breaking the rust barrier, it was real easy to get the valve off the manifold tube with the "crows foot" wrench i used - it's a 1 1/6" wrench end that hooks up to a standard 3/8" socketwrench.

I didn't realize that u got the sensor from Ford - they won't accept a return on ANY electrical item/sensor (most likely for the exact reason i stated) - i did my return at Autozone.

My CEL came on the other day after using premium gas for the first time in my 01 Sport. The truck is running just fine. If I simply disconnect the battery for 15-20 minutes, will the light go away?

No, the code came on for a reason and will likely come back. Get the code scanned at autozone (write it doen), have them clear it and then do a search here with the code number (i.e.P0402, p1341, etc.). I'm sure you'll find something to help u. If the code comes back, then there is an issue.
