my 98 explorer has 4 problems
1.sometimes has a slight knocking when cranking it up, usually in the morning. took it to ford and had a recall fixed on it. intake gasket and a timing chain tensioner was the recall, ford replaced both
2.has slight clattering noise on acceleration whether taking off or cruising down the road
3.has a rough idle
4.usually about once a month you can try to crank it up and it just turns over like it isnt getting any fuel. you can depress the accelorator and keep it about half way and it will stay running but once you let off it will die. when you can keep it running something makes a noise like the a/c compressor kicking on then it runs just fine.
none of these problems will show a code so any help will be appreciated.
