1992 XLT
Well I am 16 years old and I got a 1992 explorer XLT. I like the car and SUV's in general, but I want to make my car stand out from the rest of the cars in the parking lot. I have limited cash flow unfortunately I spent a couple of months salary on my stereo system that I have in there, but I would like some affordable options to enhance the look of my car. Realistically I am not too worried about performance just want my car to look a little better.... Anyways any suggestions you have let me know. Thank you very much.

I would like to welcome you to the board. I hope you will be able to learn more about your explorer by looking around.

I know Rick has something about young people starting out wanting to spend money on there Explorer's. Check it out, you might not like it, but it's the truth.

I found it. Check it out.

Something you might want to check into is do you have a autobody class at school. Maybe you could repaint it in class.

Hope this helps.
Again welcome

hehe :(

anyways I understand what you mean.

There is an autobody class which this year I am unfortunately not in, but my friend is in it and he is constantly working on his cars and he agreed to help me with my car and his dad works on cars alot together they have alot of experience and I learn from them alot actually...

Damn kids!

Lol, j/k. No worries bubba. You'll learn all kinds of great stuff on this board as far as mods and really anything about Explorers you could possibly imagine. (and plenty you don't, like hootuses [hooti?] and certain :ahem: protective coatings) But really, don't get bummed about being "just a kid" there are several of us on the board. Oops, did I say "us"? I guess I let that one slip. Me, I'm only 18 myself. Good luck with your ride though man. :smoke:

O.K. remember this is coming from one of the old guys so you can read and learn or just laugh.....lol

The best thing is to try and learn to do the work yourself. You will save money and if you are on the trails and have trouble, you have a lot better chance of fixing it yourself.

You say your friend and his dad like working on cars? How about your dad???
I still enjoy the time my dad and I work on cars. You might want to get your dad involved in what you are doing on the Explorer. Your never to old or to young to do things with the old man!! Besides maybe he won't feel so bad helping you out on some of the financing part of it...........

Good luck and remember to have fun!!!
;)
