Well, I don't know much about mechanics but I hope that I can find some help here.

I just bought a 91 Explorer that needs the fuel pressure regulator replaced. Unfortunately, it is the slip/snap on type (i.e.: not the screw-on type) which I can't figure out how to detach. The fuel line that goes into the top of the regulator rotates around but I can't get it off.

I hope you guys can help me get mobile again!

Okay, I got the old one off and the new one on. Now it's leaking when I run the engine though. Am I missing something?

welcome herk

Thanks for the welcome guys. I think I found the problem: the O-Ring that came with the new regulator got damaged when I installed it. Luckily, the regulator came with an extra O-Ring!

The fuel line that connects to the top of the regulator seems to be a lot looser than the one that I took off. I pushed down on it really hard and now it seems to stay put but it almost seems like I've missed a step there. Any thoughts?

Take it out, and replace all of the O rings. I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the stock 91-94 section.

First of all, thanks for putting this thread in the appropriate place. Once I figure out my way around the forum that shouldn't be necessary again. ;)

Second of all, please forgive my ignorance but when you say "replace *all* of the O rings" do you mean that there should be more than one? The fuel pressure regulator came with one O ring installed on the part that plugs directly into the fuel rail and another one loose in the box. Was I incorrect to assume that the loose one was just a spare? If so, where should it have gone?

Thanks for your patience; this is only the second vehicle I've ever owned and that first vehicle never needed any work done to it in all the time that I owned it except for replacement of the valve-cover gaskets. All of this stuff with fuel injectors is kinda new to me.

The older vehicles with a 3.0L have this regulator: http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.php?p=41
