Greetings:

I just picked up a nice Manik Full size bumper guard from the junkyard, for my 1997 explorer xlt 5.0. It is really heavy and well made. I got it off a 96 explorer xlt (thanks to cash for clunkers). It is still fairly new:)!!! What fogs are the most suitable for a setup such as this one? Manik 4x4 off road access front bar #332750. I only paid $75.00 for it (u-pull it yard):D!! 4wheelonline.com has it retailed at $833.00, but on sale for $598.00!! I want to purchase a hood deflector and a really nice set of fogs. The set on the bottom work (stock) but this frontal bar has a setup for some on the top. Also should I touch it up in a nice gloss black, or would a flat black be more suitable??? This thing bolts to the frame and the factory bumper! Would the gloss be a bit too much, or again would the flat black be better. I also have rubber padding on the left and right side of it too. I clearly got a bargain today! Thank you in advance! Please I am open to any and or all suggestions!!

Best Regards!

Thanks! Now would flat and or gloss black be good, I was thinking maybe a gloss? How are those Warrior brackets holding up? Do they really boost up the height of your truck by 2 inches? I am considering a set for each of my explorers. Also, is it just a mere increase to the rear of your truck, or does the whole truck sort of balance itself out with the slight overall height increase? Thanks again!

Shackles only lift the rear, TT lifts the front to match.

Thanks! What would you recommend to match with a warrior shackle set. What good TT lifts are out there. I would like to at least go up another tire size, to some 32's:D! Would my transfer case be ok, I am a firm believer in synthetic fluids and good maintenance. Also I don't abuse any of my machines! I have used Lubeguard (Green bottle mostly) in with fresh tranny fluid (mecronV). Could I use some in my transfer case with some Mecron V? Thanks again!:)

Thanks!:) How do those 33's hold up on the gas and your tranny/tranfer case. What is your take/experience? Thanks again!:)

4.10 gears, 33x12.5 mud terrains, about 15-17 mpg highway. I never go over 70mph on any road.

Wow! I'll bet it handles nice in the snow! I agree anything over 70, and your putting yourself at risk. I have 31's and take precautions. Overall your transfer case and tranny hold up well?

No problems so far, been about 20k to 30k miles (roughly) since the 33s. I don't speed because A) i don't feel like getting a moving violation and dealing with insurance and B) I'm just usually not in a hurry, for some reason 99% of idiots on the road seem to be.

As for the snow...well, let's just say I don't get stuck easily. The front and rear auto lockers are fun and useful but you really need to know how to drive with them. Although I rarely need 4wd with the pathetic amount of snow we get here.

I would invest in a good set of lift springs...I like my shackles but with the old springs they seem to flatten the springs out too much to my liking

just a thought

Good luck with your project

Yeah those moving violations, you certainly don't need the aggravation! I am considering 32 or even 33's over my current 31's, eventually. I only utilize my 4wd when applicable, otherwise I just drive, it handles quite well in the snow, I just picked up my 97 5.0 AWD, I am quite sure it will do well! 20-30,000 miles, thats cool! If I can get at least 18-22 mpg with 32-33's I would be very happy. Thanks again:)!

Where is a good source for springs? Could I pull them off of a low mileaged explorer, or even F150? What other vehicles have compatible rear leaf springs, are the rangers compatible? What decent TT brackets are a good match for the Warrior 153's? Thanks again!:)
