I need a new engine!

my mechanic is calling around to see how much a 4.0 (rebuilt) would cost.....I have a '92 Eddie Bauer....the heads are cracked bad (I posted a previous thread) and I'm now waiting, very frustrating.

My question is what price range? I know if the mileage is lower, it would be more, I just need an idea of how much money I'd have to kick out for a rebuilt engine. Since it's a '92, I don't really want to get a brand new one.

I got a 4.0 from a junkyard with 29k miles for $900 with a 90 day warranty. It worked out pretty good for me.
