I am under the suspicion that I have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Anyone have a trick or technique to help locate it?

Thanks!

Why do you suspect a vacuum leak?

First, I would carefully listen for it.

Good luck....

Use a can of Carb. cleaner and spray it around by the the noise to pinpoint it, the engin run differt when you find the leak.

I agree with go off road. That's a good way to find a vacuum leak. I would suggest something like WD-40 though, carb cleaner can play havic with plastic parts.

Do not use any fluids, they can break down your plastics, and could possibly ignite on hot surfaces.

Instead, try a small propane can, like what plumber's use to braze copper piping joints. Just use a fine tip nozzle. Obviously, don't light it.

Start the engine and let it get up to temperature. Then carefully pass the tip of the propane up/down, all around the vacuum hoses, fittings, manifold joints. When it finds a leak, the idle speed will increase.

Works like a charm.

Also you could try soapy water. That's what we use for the Navy Diesels. The engine will run different when you find the leak
