I need help figuring out how to.......

:exp:Ok I bought a 98 ford explorer. The back tailgate wiper does nothing and it is not the fuse. I also can't open just the window. The whole trunk will open just not the window. How can I take off the inside cover to the trunk to see if something is disconnected inside the trunk? I tried to pull it and all I did was crack the inside pannel. Also the drivers side door will not unlock with the key anymore it has never unlocked with the remote lock either. I know it is not the motor cause it wakes noise like it is going to but does nothing. I went to unlock the door one day and it made a pop sound and never unlocked. If I go through the back door and pull the handle the door will unlock. If you have any sugestions on any other the problem I have please let me know. Thank You.

for the rear glass and wiper there should be a 4x2 inch oblong cap right at the hump in the middle inside of door, you can access the window latch assembly here. The smaller to the left side facing the rear is for the wiper assembly. There should be both a fuse and a relay for the rear wiper, are you checking both the drivers side kick panel and under the hood? Sometimes when a relay goes bad people will pull out one that isn't important and pop it in then forget to replace it.

As for your door lock it sounds like the mechanism for the actual post that pokes out of the door is either jammed, damaged or simply became unattached. It's also very common for remote unlock car door lock cylinders to sieze up because they are used so rarely. If you take apart the assembly you will probably notice 1/4 lb of corrosion built up on and in it.

ok I did replace both the fuse under the hood and on the side pannel inside the door. Neither were bad but I figured I would try too I know what you are saying about the two parts that come off but I see the latch and don't know if it is the button on the outside that isn't hooked up right cause it looks like the latch is fine. When I push the button on the outside it does nothing so how can I get to that to see if maybe it came unhooked? The hole for the winshield wiper isn't big enough for me to get two fingers in there and still see.

for the latch panel, there is a screw hidden under a cap that is near the window latch. take that out. the portion of the panel that goes around the window, there are some clips there. if you have the hatch open, pull the parts of the panel that surround both sides and on top of the window towards you. there are hooks on the rest of the perimeter of the panel, that are part of the panel. you should be able to push it upwards, and the panel will come off. there are also two screws under the pull down strap that will need to be removed.

as for you door not locking, i would think of a few things to look for. for the solenoid, it my be possible that the rivet that holds it to the door, or the bracket has broke, and needs a new one. for your key, i would think the clip came off.
