I just found out that in 4hi I cant spin my tires:{.
I need torque. Recommend me a great muffler, noise is no concern. Or a combo of things.
Under a grand saved. If I cant get the power I want the explorer may go up for sale.:{
:fire: :mad: :fire:

Why not just regear? You can easily get the power you want that way without having to mess with the engine.

Thats a grand and a half. unless you know of better gear prices?

Do you enjoy breaking things? :rolleyes:

You're going to have a heck of a time trying to get that much more torque out of a grand

Aren't gears aroung $150 and installation another $200?

Cost me about $500 for the rearend, but you can usually get both ends done for under $800 without adding traction aides.

How fast do you want to go? Please list what mods you have already, mileage on the motor and parts, and how much money you have. I can probably help you from there.

rebuilt motor at 89000 now have 145600 on it
the mods in the sig.,
And for me to regear it will cost me 1196.96 parts and labor.
Thats the cheapest place Ive found.
Id like 4.10s. speed is of no concern to me. I just want to have better accel, shoud I drop to a smaller tire? Thus killing my offroad capabilites.
Does anyone make a better manifold or where can I get a cam and lifter valves and springs for a decent price?

www.vanirtech.com has performance 4.0L parts, and if they don't carry it they can probably give you good advice. A cam and better valvetrain would definately help. Think about a chip, too.

Thanks for the feed back.:p

I have a '91 XLT with 98,000 miles and I wanna put new gears in it. I don't need to go fast (60-75 max I guess). I just want my 2 ton beast to be a little quicker. Would 3.73's or 4.10's be best? I have 3.55's right now, so I don;t think 3.73's would be much quicker. But I don;t know too much about the gears.
