1998 Mercury Mountaineer
Always loved Explorers, my brother picked up a sport when I was in middle school and had me hooked. Never really had a tuner or supercar phase, I've always been a sucker for SUV's.

Just scooped a '98 Mountaineer last week, and I'm itching to get to work on her. Thought I might see what some others have been up to with their rides and get some ideas.

The first two things I'm concerned with is my suspension, which is certainly in need of some attention, so rusty my shocks are peeling off of themselves, got a gangster lean going on in the rear lol, and the rust colony flourishing all over the underside of my truck. My ride is a hobby as well as my transportation, so I'm not too concerned with long term costs =] I suppose I've always wanted a car for the wrong reasons (audio and built motors)

As far as what I've done so far, list is pretty short, but I installed 8" midbass speakers in my front doors, installed my touchscreen reciever, and have begun to run wiring for a pair of Image Dynamics IDQ fifteens I'm picking up Friday. Still need to order my PPI 1000.1 as well as a 900.4. End goal is Ported PA mids in fiberglass pods in the front doors, Eric Stevens HLCD's under the dash run active on the 900.4, and the fifteens ported, and tuned fairly low for a well rounded sq setup.
Motor wise, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a turbo kit in the future, just stumbled across STS the other day, so daydreams a plenty.

My name's Chris, glad to be a part of the forum =]

Welcome Chris,

I have a 2000 Mountie.

I put new rear leaf springs with a long add-a-leaf plus Warrior shackles, to get a 3 1/2" lift and new upper control arms, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, and new sway bar end links, then torsion keys for 2" of lift i the front. New Ranchos in the front anf rear Monroe coilovers.

My suspension is basically all new and rides better than it ever has.

I'm running 265/70/18s on 2012 Mustang rims.

Good Luck.

MT
