Idle issues.

Every now again my 01 Explorer will satrt but not idle. I seems to be more frequesnt in colder weather, but not always. Sometimes I will have to keep the pedal down at start & hold at 2000 rpm til it "catches" but sometimes this won't work & I have to drive 2 footing to maintain idle at stops etc. I'm thinking it's the throttle control sensor. Am I barking up th right tree? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 95-01 section. Check the idle air control solenoid (IAC). It might need to be cleaned out.

this also sounds like a manifold gasket issue. What type of engine is it? sohc,ohv? is your check engine light on? code numbers?
