I'm having a problem with a 97 Explorer. The car will not idle. It will start and stay started until remove your foot from the gas, then it dies. You can drive it but once you let off the gas it will stall and shut down. I removed what I thought to be the idle solenoid and tried to blow out the carbon as I was told this could be my problem. It seems to have alleviated the problem in the past but I'm having no such luck as of late. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This time rather than cleaning the IAC, you will probably have to replace it. It is the cause of probably 90% of the "no idle" problems on late model Explorers.

clean the throttle body

clean the throttle body, and the IAC, you need to use a Throttle body cleaner to dissolve the residue, you cant blow it out. Use a soft tooth brush to scrub the bore, and throttle plate. Spray some in the intake also. I use maybe 1/3 to 1/2 can per cleaning- usually every 2nd oil change.
