1994 Ford Ranger 2.3L
Sometime back, my 1994 Ford Ranger suddenly started running rough and making it home was questionable. While driving it went from smooth to severe. Made it home and ran codes. Garage said the egr sensor was defective. Replaced it and the plugs. Have a 2.3. The third and fourth plugs on the intake side were completely burnt, electrodes gone. Ran a new code test after replacement above. Received the 111 code. Went to next step to check base timing because of extremely rough idle and no power. Disconnected the spout. The timing, according to books, is supposed to be at the 10 btdc plus 20 and give or take 3 more. This makes it 27 to 33 degrees btdc. Upon checking it, the mark fluctuated between the estimated 33 and 6. No stabilization of the needle at all and when the spout was reconnected, there was no change in advance. Would it be right to assume the timing belt jumped a tooth or two?:us:
