Quick question for those in the know.

While changing my outer tie rods yesterday (torn boots) I had a question arise about the inners. If the inner tie rod has no resistance on it and simply falls to the ground after holding and dropping it, does this mean the part is worn and needs changed?

not necessarily, but if it has play going in and out (like you can hear a clunking noise while doing that) then the part is worn.

Now if both side of the inner tierod fell to the floor then yes the part is worn.

thanks for the reply, phil. i went ahead and just changed out both inners and the steering is nice and tight now.
