96 eddie bauer 4.0 OHV
just bought a 96 eddie bauer today... tomorrow the mods will begin. First thing is i just pulled the system out of my old car tonight and id like to start installing in the ex tomorrow. I consider myself somewhat skilled when it comes to installing systems, but i was just wondering if theres anything i should watch out for/be careful with in the explorer? Thanks,
James

James, congrats on your purchase.

So...do you have an Eddie Bauer or an XLT?? I'm asking b/c you stated that you have EB while your signature and the side bar indicated that you have an XLT. They have two totally different systems. One is the Ford/JBL system with a sub in the back while the other is just a plain stereo. But anyway...you need to get an amp bypass. Also, do a search about the power antanna if you have the JBL system. If you installed your aftermarket radio, your antanna will stay up permenantly. Also, the antanna jack for the JBL system is in the back, along with the amp and the subamp. Have fun!!

hey thanks for replying.. i just checked and it has the JBL system in it... do i HAVE to bypass the JBL system or can i just run it regularly, along with another amp and sub? because i dont plan on changing the regular speakers or amping the speakers at anytime. Thanks,
James

my dad's XLT has the JBL sound in it...($350 option)

I don't doubt it, but the percentage of JBL systems in XLT's are marginally less than Eddie Bauer and Limited. Heh...Eddie Bauers had standard JBL system only with their premium package. The lower Eddie Bauer package is basically a low grade XLT which has basically nothing but leather seats and chrome rims. That means...no fog lights, no high series center console, no keyless entry, etc...

today i picked up a wiring harness and dash kit, and pulled out the stock HU, and the main power harness fitted with the one i bought, but then the one for the speaker wires wouldnt fit? what should i do? Thanks,
James

i accidentally started a new thread its labeled
