I am FINALLY going to install that 2 inch lift this weekend...hopefully...if the warrior shackles get here....wanna do it all at once. anyways...i was reading in my haynes manual about taking out the front coils and such...doesnt say anything about any special tools, but my friend insists that i need some sorta coil compressor or something? which is true?

We just put coil spacers on my friends Ranger and the tools we used were:

1) 1 1/8" DEEP socket
2) Swivel socket joint
3) 2 different lenth socket extensions (6" & 8" roughly)
4) 18mm socket (for shock removal)
5) Pry bar
6) Floor jack
7) 2 jack stands

We experienced the most difficulty of the right side. We actually put the floor jack between the frame and lower swing arm to get the coil out. The left side was simple. Just have someone stand on the hub to lower the arm and the coil should come right out.

A coil compressor may have been useful, but it is not necessary for the installation.

Good luck.

I found it easier to use a 1 1/8" offset wrench to remove the spring retaining bolt.
Also unbolting the sway bar may help.
