Something tells me I may have a real issue here and am hoping its not serious. Any input would be welcome. I drove the Explorer 100 plus miles at freeway speeds not exceding 65/70 MPH, pulled over to rest, shut the vehicle down for 30 min. then started it back up to continue home, got 100 feet down the road and the vehicle began to lose power significantly and then stopped altogether. Stumped at everything I tried then a mechanic did a smoke test and found two holes the size of nickles in the intake manifold down stream from the EGR valve as it comes thru and into the intake. That 90 degree piece of metal pipe that protrudes from the EGR into the plenum seems suspect to me as the two holes were just in front of it. Are you with me here.? What could have caused this. The mechanic says there had to be some sort of blockage in the exhaust system....Myself and the mechanic found nothing in the exhaust pipe or the intake from the air cleaner forward. Any help here .....Has anyone heard of this before.
