Ok Folks, truck is a 2006 ford explorer limited with the 4.6 engine and automatic transmission.
The abs and traction control lights are always on because I haven't been able to find the culprit there. Not sure if it is related to my new problem, but it is the only other issue this vehicle has.
Now the current issue, about once a month over the last three months my wife has called me at work saying she stopped at a stop sign. She started moving again, the wrench light came on and she lost power to the drive wheels. She pulls it off the road and restarts the truck and it runs and drives fine. This last time she got me on the phone while it was doing it. I had her shift the selector to 2nd gear and it accelerated fine.
Anyone ever had this issue and resolved it? Is there something obvious that I could try to fix it? I'm thinking its slipping out of 1st but don't want to rebuild the transmission on a hunch. Thanks.
