Several months ago, my Explorer 4.0L 5 spd. Starting loosing power and stalling, but I could get full power back usually by turning ignition off then restarting, even while in motion. Ultimately this didn't always work, so I replaced the fuel pump and filter, and that seemed to fix the issue, until a few days ago when it stalled (but restarted) while driving. Then yesterday, it wold turn-over but not start. I would turn the ignition on and off a few times and it would start. The next time it did this I started listening for the fuel pump to turn on and I heard nothing on the first few turns of the ignition, then it would power up and engine would start. Now, the fuel pump will not power up. I have checked the relays and they are working. Anyone had a similar issue and solution? THX

When my fuel pump circuit died, it was a loose connection somewhere in between the fuse and the relay. The fuel pump circuit is a pretty basic DC circuit, I would suggest you get a wiring diagram (the one in Chiltons has been good enough for me) and a voltmeter and see where the break in the circuit is.
