Hello all. last night went to store for a quick 2 min then came out and the x was hard to start. It would crank over strong (new die hard a few months ago w/more cca's) but would not start. Just some history. I did have ford replace that sensor under the crankshaft pulley about a year ago because it had the same problem turning over and not starting. You think this could be the same problem? After waiting a few min it started fine and ran fine with no loss of power. I also popped the hood and heard the clicking noise in the fuse block when turning on the key.
I hope its something easy because it always sucks to think is it gonna start or not.
any tips would appreciate. I have 103,x.. miles so far so i cant be too pissed about it having problems.

sounds like a fuel delivery problem
my fuel pump started actin up like that around the same mileage and finally crapped out at 160k miles. Replaced the fuel pump and the problem went away and my X started like it was new.

did you get a OEM fuel pump or aftermarket? Also how much did it costs for the part?

it was an aftermarket oem pump, (like napa), and it was about 130 for the part, but if youre gonna get it installed, its going to be mad expensive because you have to drop the tank. I would say just leave it for now and replace it when it dies- mine went for over 50k miles like that.

Yeah it shouldnt be too hard to do. Just gotta make sure to drain most of the gas if i do. My fuel pump once crapped out on me just right after i got gas at a station and wouldnt start so i had 15 gallons of gas. Now that sucked cause i was like over a 100 miles away from home and had to just let a shop do replace it for me. put a higher rated lph one in.

Do I have to change fuel pump?

Just wondering if there was something else i could check before i have to change the fuel pump. It seems to work on every try if i wait for about 20 seconds on the on position then crank it over. I tried it without doing that and it wouldnt start. So anything else i should check on the FP.
Thanks

I would think it is your fuel pump relay or your crankshaft position sensor rather than the fuel pump.

Try swapping out the fuel pump relay with another relay (like the A/C WOT Reley) and see if the starting situation changes.

I'll try that. I had the cps go out on me before got it replaced by ford. But when it did go out. It was more immediate than progressivly worst. Also huh where is the fuel pump relay and the a/c wide open throttle relay? I'll try this right now
thanks

Oh sorry got a manual. Just found it. gonna try it right now. gotta cross the fingers hope this works. Whats the cost of the new relay btw?
