hey all, i was gonna get an IPOD with a converter adapter to use in my 98 explorer. problem is, the adapter plugs into the stock CD/Radio of my truck---via the headphones plug.

hmmmmmm, there is none---on the outside. does anybody know if my CD/Radio has a place to plug this thing in at? or will i be tearing into the dash to find it on the back of the unit? thx,jw

It should plug in on the back of the h/u. I had an Aux/Pod and it just plugged into the back between the harness and the H/u. I then took power and ground off the cigarette lighter since it was handy. I recently upgraded to an aftermarket h/u, So if you want, I'll sell the Aux/pod to you. It needs a new wire from the aux/pod to the ipod so you'll have to see if those are available before buying. It was used about three month's. It won't work with my Alpine so I'll let go cheap, considering it needs the wire. Let me know if you want it.

H/U stands for Head Unit - the car radio.

Ford car radios do not have an aux in for audio, such as an 1/8" line in or RCA line in. The adapter you would need connects to the CD changer input on the back of the radio (head unit), and then has an 1/8" connector for the iPod.

It is a lot easier to just buy the IPOd FM transmitter. Just tune to the IPOD frequency from your FM radio to hear the IPOD. Good for any cars.
