went wheelin yesterday. i took the truck through some pretty deep water. the motor slowly lost power then stalled out. afterwards, it wouldn't start, but it'd click rapidly... like a bad starter. i got it home and i'm charging up the completely dead batter (from running the cb and the hazard lights the whole way home.). while still out on the trail, it did crank over and start once. it actually idled for about 5 seconds or so before stalling back out. is it hydrolocked or did she just get water in the starter and other electronics? what say you?

i've got a new motor in the garage, so if i have to replace it, no biggie. i was just really wanting to hit 300k on this motor first. lol.

if it turned over, it couldn't have been hydrolocked,, that means it is solid ,cause 1 or more of the cylinders is full of water , it might have stalled as a result of more water getting in where the plugs are ,. and fouling them out,, change them out, and check the oil for that milky crap, if it is there, change the oil too ,,

i'll pull the plugs as soon as i get home from work.

Well the plugs were dry. i don't think it's a hydrolock issue at all. it honestly sounds like the starter. it's just clicking once when i try to start it. i'm going to pull the starter off and bench test it next.

It could be a dirty MAF sensor or clogged air filter. If it ingested water to stop it. engines can handle a little bit of water. just enough to stop it and not lock it up. water doesn't compress which causes hydrolock. if it turns over you dont have it
Or in my case. If you drove a stupid honda through a tiny puddle.. herd a loud *CLINK THUD* then go to start it again and you hear the connecting rod hitting every possible thing in there.. you're SOL..
but you dont have that problem.

if it clicked rapidly on the trail.. thats a sign you had a dead/drained battery. solenoids tend to do that when they dont have enough juice to keep the spring closed as it makes contact to give the starter power.
check your ground straps and terminals for bad connections. You could also be right about a computer getting wet though.

i hope it's not the computer. i was kind of hoping that maybe the starter got wet and maybe locked up the brushes inside. i'll mess with it more over the weekend. it should be fixed by sunday night at the latest.

Well the only way the computer would get wet is if you got water in the cab since its located behind the passenger side kick panel by the door.

When my engine ingested a little bit of water it did the same thing, started up, idled then died, so I removed the soaking wet air filter and it started right back up and ran fine. But yea it sounds like something minor with the electrical so hopefully it isnt too hard to fix.
Also if you havent done so already I'd remove that litttle air duct thats behind the drivers headlight and connects to the air filter box since any little bit of water easily gets sucked in through it. I know there was a thread on it with pics around here somewhere.
