When my Ford Explorer is in 4x4 Auto mode, and when it detects the rears spinning and kicks on 4x4 automatically I can hear it.

When I manually put my Explorer in 4x4 High with the button, I don't hear any sounds of it engaging (but it works, and works really well)

It doesn't bother me, but I was wondering if this is normal. This vehicle handles winter driving conditions extremely well, I'm very impressed. (Biggest reason I bought it was not to die in my 2x4 Ranger)

Normal operation to hear and feel the 4x4 engaging and disengaging with wheel slippage in auto.

That sounds good, and is exactly what mine does. I'm relieved that is normal. Thank you!
