is my alternator ringing?

Am I crazy or is my alternator ringing ? OK. the answer is both , but the ringing "metal ringing" a little bothersome, What is the prob. what can i do, how much $$$? thank you in advance Charlie

Sure it isn't the idler pulleys?

Mine dried up on my 92. Popped the caps and regreased them. Not sure how long they will last but a good experiment.

idler pully what? i will check it or them, how many are there and wat grease?

Also this may help, was trying to catch up to some HOT biker chicks (3) on sport bikes, ages 20 to 23 or so, me being 21 thought it was a good idea. I had to rev. about 3,500 to 3,750 a few times to catch up in about five miles, then stoped at a bar to pick a buddy up, left about 20 mins later and that is when the ringing started.
