the numbers that hornz stated are for the LQ9 6.0L from the Escalade.
the curb weight is 4190 vice the 5240 stated before.
Nuh uh. That truck is not weighing 4,190 lbs. I'm calling BS on that statement, sorry.

Sorry, your info is wrong I don't know where you got your info from. The Silverado SS base curb weight is 5298(lbs) and the 6.0 V8 is rated at 345 hp @ 5200rpm and 380 lb-ft of torque at 4000rpm and the compression is at 10.0:1, thats straight from the booklet that came with my friends truck, and you can check the Silverado SS forum and see all the exact spec's.

I went for a ride in it today, it does have a stiff suspension thats pretty harsh, not as smooth or comfortable as the Harley Davidson F-150 but it did handle pretty well for such a large truck. I wasn't impressed with the power though, for such a large engine it should move much quicker (but then again it is awd and heavy), the HD F-150 will lay waste to it and has a much more refined and especially more comfortable interior (gotta love those HD seats and leather). However, Chevy did improve the interior quality over their other trucks.

It just didn't have that bad ass feel or personality that the Lightning has, and I go weak in the knees when I hear a modified Lightning running a custom exhaust, heh. But I know they weren't targeting the Lightning, but it didn't have the slam your ass to the seat torque that the HD has and forget about the Lightning lol.

Besides that I thought it was a cool truck and looks nice in blue, just not for the money they are asking. I guess if you want some performance and need a work truck that's larger then the Lightning it's good, but for that price I would much rather be looking at an 03' Ram 2500 w/ the Cummins engine and a 6 speed:D ;)

The '04 Lightning will be king of the Mountain when it debuts. The previous gen L was impressive all its own but this new one will be ever more the head turner. 4 Wheel Independent suspension, 6 speed manual tranny. And that Supercooler.... *drools*

And it actually has rack and pinion steering ;)

In a recent Hot Rod mag, it was said that all of the above wouldn't make it in the production model....:( . I hope they're wrong!

talking to some on the inside, the supercooler looks pretty likely. the IRS and 6speed are iffy. They are supposedly working on a seriously built 5spd auto though (currently has a 4spd auto)

Problem with the IRS setup being the rearend, its not big enough. the current L uses a 9.75" rear thats as close to bullet proof as you can get. That smaller 9" or 8.75" isnt gonna hold up to 500ft lbs. (hell even the cobra is breaking half shafts @ 400ft lbs with sticky tires)

i really doubt that the IRS and 6 speed will make it. SVT is looking to cut costs, and adding more equipment to a production run doesnt cut costs. plus, it would be the same issue as the RT10 whatever that had the V10 with a manual... a truck with that kind of torque is hard enough to hook up with an auto... get some FNG in there that cant drive and it could get dangerous in wet wheather.

nice comment, Stephen. :D i also am awed by "rack and pinion" steering. wonder if some of this new technology could spill over to other vehicles? ;)

We should only be so lucky.

God bless General Motors, the hotbed for automotive innovation

It's too bad the compression is so high, b/c even if anyone wanted to slap a charger on there you wouldn't get much out of it w/out swapping heads, etc. Sounds primed for nitrous, however.
