My 1996 Ford Explorer is possessed. I think it is all interrelated though. First keep having battery cable issues, positive terminal keep loosening up. Friday I was on my way to work and it would not start, so went out tightened the positive side again and it started but my hood would not close, just the secondary latch, since wasnt going far just let it go figuring would try to figure it out Saturday, but forgot about it.... bad me. So Friday night about 4 am the alarm starts going off. I clicked it off and went back to bed. Did it again. So at first just thought maybe something triggered it. Saturday forgot about the hood. So last night about 4 am the alarm went off again a few times, I just went and undid the battery cable. That is when I remembered about the hood not closing all the way. So is that the reason the alarm is going off, is it "thinking" because it is not down all the way someone is trying to steal the battery of something? What could be causing the hood to not close. Hey, she is 20 years old and close to 400k miles. :D

Finally got my hood to shut, fingers crossed the alarm does not go off as I really think that is what was causing the alarm to go off.

I'd try lubricating the hood latch. And pray!

I had issues with my factory alarm going off at random times. I replaced the battery, and they went away.
