My heat is messed up i think. I had my thermostat and water pump fixed recently and now my heat works. great right? well my temp guage goes crazy, it will be hot then all of a sudden my temp gauge will rise to the hot zone, and then the air will get cold for a few seconds. and the temp gauge will drop back down to normal while it starts to relase hot air again.

is this normal, is my truck suppose to be like building up heat and then letting it all out? or is it just suppose to be constant? it does it prolly once every 10-15 minutes maybe.

thanks in advance

Mike

Thats not normal. You should have constant heat. Did you check your colant leval?

It sounds like your thermostat is sticking or binding. Run the engine until at normal operating temp and feel the upper rad hose, there should be coolant flowing through it. Next drive around until you see the heat guage going crazy and now see if there is coolant flowing through. The hose should be very hot to the touch and if you squeeze it really hard and slowly let it go you should feel the coolant surging through the hose past your fingers. If you dont feel any coolant flowing take the truck back and have whoever put the thermostat in replace it.

Do you mean to the red on the temp gage? If so, just replace your thermostat. I had to do mine about 2 months ago. It's a $8 fix.
