ive done some research but not really finding anything...

i bought some upper left and right control arms (ball joints are shot), and now am picking up some lower ball joints, sway bar link kit, and some sway bar bushings.

problem is...i see a lot of different sizes listed for the diameter of the bushings for the sway bar. is there any way to tell what size they are (ie: a sticker or part number)? i have seen one person say they are 34mm...but if thats true, why are there so many other sizes?

any definitive help is appreciated

I know the 95-97 is different than the 98-01. How many sizes have you seen?? I never messed with my sway bars.. so I can't be a big help.

Usually the rubber has numbers stamped into/onto it, but after time, they tend to deteriorate to the point that they can't be read or they just aren't there anymore.

The different sizes correlate to the different models and options offered... 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, 6 cyl, 8 cyl, towing package, etc...

Usually the 4x4 explorers will use the larger sizes, since they have the extra added weight in the front end from the diff, half shafts, etc... so they need a heavier bar to "control' the front end better. Add an 8 cyl engine on top of that, and again, increased weight in the front, therefore a need to use a larger diameter bar to control the front end. This is just talking about factory setups. Some 2 wheel drive models will come with the largest swaybar just because it was tagged with the towing option... Knowing what option package/s you have on the vehicle will help in finding out the correct size, but ultimately, Quickest way to find out the size of your bushings is to measure your swaybar with a caliper.

IIRC, there are two sizes. 34mm and 36mm. Take your caliper out and measure. It will take all of about 10 seconds. If you don't have a caliper, just drop by most any parts store. They will have one you can use.
