I've heard so many testimonials about exhaust..

specifically about getting a local shop to weld mandrel bent pipes and install mufflers and ss tips. Alot here are saying $200-250 range is about right. Well I live in N. Florida and have found only one place in Jax, FL that will do mandrel bends and they quoted $550. I laughed. Alot of the places I called are telling me to go to Valdosta, GA. I am about to give up and buy a bolt-on kit. Any Floridians out there?

I think the majority here that are getting them at the $200-250 range are actually getting Press bent pipes, not mandrel bends

If your getting quotes at over $500 then your best bet is to go with a cat-back kit. I got mine for about $250 with mandrel bent pipes and a SS tip.

Do you have pics of your pipes?

N/M you have Gibson, we were talking about custom exhaust

Thanks. I might go with the Gibson SS setup for $350. Its kinda quiet but I like the SS. I kinda questioned the bends after researching this a little.

Yomie..

i got mine for around 200 and it is all mandrel bent.

here is the link to the shop that did mine..
doesnt help the guy in florida.. but it goes to show that shops do mandrel bending at an affordable price

and a pic of my system.. no pics of the bends.. and i cant snap any for ya cuz my truck is in the bodyshop.

WOW, How did you know I have a Gibson exhaust?? I may need to check the locks on my X:p

Maybe thats the case for u out in FL.
Here in Bend, OR there are several exhaust shops that do custom work - and thus the competition keeps the prices fair.

Florida prices on most anything are higher than say, Missouri prices. Real estate, groceries, cars, washing machines. etc. I bet if you did go up to Valdosta you would find a little lower prices, or better yet a smaller place like Alma, GA or Americus, GA. The question is if those places would give you mandrel bends or not...

well Valdosta is only 1.5-2 hours away, but I have no idea what the name of the place is. Guess I could pick up a phone book. Maybe google can help.

You can use http://www.qwestdex.com and put in exhaust shops and put in the town its in.. It basically a web version of the uswest yellow pages.

thanks Maniak

Here's a pic of mine, which is not mandrel bent and is 2.25". As far as getting mandrel bent pipes, dont waste your time unless your going to have a lot of bends in it, which if you follow the same pattern as the stock exhaust, you wont have. I'm really happy with 2.25" pipe too. It added a lot of power on my top end and I only lost a little bit of bottom end.
