Hey everyone, i searched around and couldnt find anything related to my problem i am having. I noticed when i put my 96' explorer into drive or reverse it hesitates then goes into gear. When i was sitting at my house i put it in neutral, and turned the knob to 4wd Low. It made a clunk noise and hopped forward a little. When i put it in drive while it was still in 4wd you can feel it go into gear, as you slowly let off the brake it like hops and starts to go forward with a clunk noise. It does the same in reverse also. Just wondering if there is anything i could possibly do to fix that?

if it is in 4wd, its going to jerk, you are dealing with 2 whole drivetrains.... both trying to differentiate from each other

hmm. But i notcied it jerks at the same time both in an out of 4wd. What could possibly be causing it?

ok that sounds liek a tranny issue, not a 4wd issue... do a search on here... lots of issues with trannies....

some shift hard, sometimes its normal sometimes there is a broken problem with it. look for hard shift.....

Thinking about it now i think it hasnt had the tranny flushed ever. It has around 161k. Maybe new filter, and fluid would help?

dont flush the tranny, drop the pan and change the filter then refill

look into glacier991 he has rebuild diaries. he has upgraded the internals to make the tranny you have awesome... best ever.... i would look into his threads... he knows a lot

Alright. Thanks for the help! much appreciated!!
