- 2000 Ford Ranger
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and to Ford trucks and I have a question. I hope this isn't addressed elsewhere, but the nature of the problem is hard to search for.
I own a 2000 Ranger 4wd with a 4.0l v6. A braking problem developed shortly after I bought the truck, where the truck brakes smoothly until just before stopping, then it stops jerkily and with a clunk. The rear end of the truck seems to noticeably sink or "sit down" upon stopping. This only happens when the truck is in 2wd. Upon accelerating, there is a similar clunk immediately after take-off. It is almost like there is play in a linkage somewhere in the drivetrain. There are no problems with smoothness otherwise.
Has anyone else encountered this and are there any DIY fixes if you have? I need a starting point to address this issue.
Thanks.
