My name is John and I am trying to help my grandson with his 1999 ford explorer. I need to know the location for the crankshaft position sensor on his 1999 ford explorer with a 4.0 OHV engine any help would be appreciated.

if you lay under the front end and look up at the motor I believe you will see it at the harmonic balancer pulley

Thank you for your replies . Yes we found it behind the harmonic pulley. changd it and fixed the problem.
