Just a theory I had on the OD/D discussion, and a few questions

Ok I read the post on whether or not it is better to drive in D or OD, and I remembered a friend of mine saying that you could get better highway passing power in D. I had tried this in the past, and didnt see a difference between the two. That was before I had installed my superchip. So after reading this post I was coming out of a toll here in wonderful Jersey, and turned off the OD. I noticed that my acceleration seemed much quicker. After experimenting some more I came up with the theory that being in D keeps the RPMs higher which takes advantage of my SOHC engine which kicks ass in the high end, but lags in the low. It also seems to rev higher in D, which also takes advantage of the superchips bumped up rev limiter. The one complaint I have always had about my truck was the off the line power. It always seemed to lag till you get up to 2500 to 3000 RPMs. Obviously I would get better gas milage in OD, but do think I am correct about my theory? I am just guessing but it makes sense to me. Anybodys thoughts would be appreciated.

yeah i agree

well, it al makes sense since you are in a lower gear. the 5th gear is mainly a cruising gear. ever notice how many downshifts our cars make? BTW, i love your truck. i planned on modding mine the same way but my car turned out to be a POS. is yours red or orange like mine? i cant tell from the pic. madd props Journam, ill whip.

wouldnt being able to pick up at speed mean a higher torque (low end) advantage because it must hack out more power to get moving faster? the more torque you have the more you will accelerate. if you dont have torque you wont pick up any speed.

Thanks exploder 99. My truck is the bright red. I have put a decent amount of work into my truck. What happened with your truck that you say its a POS?
If you want I have more pics of my truck. Not that great. I am going to take some more once the weather clears up some, so I can give it a nice wash and wax. But for now check these out.
