egr tube, just gotta order one and install
tires, simple fix
but a new problem has popped up. when i use cruise control for a short period of time, say 20 minutes or so like when im on the interstate, when i get on the on ramp i tap the brakes to turn it off. for several days the gas pedal will stick. meaning it will take more pressure than normal to press it, you end up pushing to much and the pedal jumps straight to 50% throttle so the truck jumps. this only happens for a day or so after using the cc. suggestions? time for a new throttle cable?

Have you cleaned the throttle valve? I know Ford says not to clean them, but have you looked inside it with the throttle plate opened? Also you might try spraying the throttle and cruise control cables with your favorite penertating lube before you replace the cables. I would do a bit of trouble shooting too. Remove the C/C cable from the throttle linkage and see if that helps the sticking situation.

i hit the cables with oil this weekend. the throttle cable only sticks for a short while after i use the cc. right now its not sticking, because i have not used the cc in several days. it only sticks for a little while after i use the cc.

When you tap the brake pedal to turn off the cruise does it actually turn off? i.e. the cruise light goes off and the truck slows down?

I'd think for safety reasons if for no other you should replace both the throttle and cruise cables. I'm sure one or the other is sticking but my bet would be the throttle cable if the cruise has actually turned off.

yes, the cruise does turn off when i press the brake pedal. what puzzles me is after i turn cc off, the throttle pedal will stick for a short while, then i guess it loosens up, for a lack of better terms, and does not stick at all...until i use the cc again.

i think you should try this. its easy, and wont cost anything. take it off, go for a ride. if it doesnt continue, you have found that the cable, or motor is binding up. if it dose continue, take both the throttle, and cruise cables off, and see if the throttle body is hanging up.

One other thing to look at: The bracket that holds the accelerator pedal is rivited to the firewall. Those rivits can start to break loose and cause the pedal to hang up; feels just like the cable is sticking. Happened to me about 200 miles from home; drove all the way back (thankfully mostly interstate) mainly using the cruise buttons to accel/decel. Good luck.

hit the cables as best i could with some pb blaster, problem still exists right after i use cc

thanks, ill check that out.

take the plastic cover off the engine and look at the cable, the cruise control cable used to have a recall for this.
