well, my truck came with a tranny cooler on it (i think most explorers do...dont they?) and now its gone. anyway, me and a friend of mine just replaced it with a Hayden 404. its awesome. we used the stock hoses to the fatory cooler and just took the factory cooler out, and plugged the Hayden cooler up to the hoses, used some zip-ties to hold it in place, and thats it. took us about 2 hours only because we ended up mutilating a hose and had to run out and replace it. under normal conditions, it should take about 45 min to an hour.

question to all you guys with tranny coolers: where did you mount yours? i mounted mine right in front of the A/C condenser, right around where the stock cooler was, but we kinda had to center it, so when you stand back from the truck, its right in the center of the grill, going longwise up and down, and theres, like, a support right in the middle of it.

i want me some pics darnit!!! :)

isnt it possible to leave the factory one and put a B&M auxillary one in so you will have 2 coolers working for you. i posted about this earlier. and thats what most people said you could do. i plan on doing it soon

sure it is possible.... ANYTHING is possible!!!!!!!

gimp, there wasnt anything wrong with the stock one, but the aftermarket one is going to cool better and i have a deal with my dad for my 30k "tune up." since im just a poor college kid, hes going to split the cost of all the 30k mile maintenance with me. so the cooler only cost me like $20 or $25, so why the hell not? :)

jim, calm down! hehe. ill try to have pics up tomorrow or wednesday, i just got my shaved emblem pics up today, and i have a million other things going on too. i promise theyll be up by wednesday at the latest :)

jas, yes you can do that. i just wanted to do a simple replace of the stock cooler. i dont do any towing or anything like that, i just figured that for $20 or so, i would lessen the restriction on my tranny - considering that ford trannies have a tendency to blow up at around 70k (my sisters went at 67k in her 96 xlt.) by the way, i wouldnt go with b&m tranny stuff, except for shifters. ive never used their tranny stuff, but im always hearing bad things about it.
