Just bought a 97 Mountaineer, 302 AWD. This thing is loaded!!! 188,000 miles, but runs strong, tranny shifts great. I'm a Jeep guy, but the old Jeep is sitting in drive with a broken front axle. I needed an additional vehicle anyway and a friend had this one sitting in his drive not being used. His wife used it for her transportation till she got a....it's painful to even type it...a...mini-van.
He was asking $1000. After driving it, I quickly discovered the brakes aren't that great. I offered him $800, and he agreed. I think I've done O.K.????
I'm gonna do the brakes myself. I know this isn't the "how to"...or a "tech section", but any direction to the correct forum for this would be helpful, or any info here. I've done brake jobs before, but not on one of these. Any pitfalls or bugs to watch out for? Any hints, tips, tricks, ect???
I've been reading for the past few days after googleing Mountaineers and discovering this site, and there appears to be a friendly, great group here with vast amounts of knowledge.
TIA
Steve
